Itinerary for Majestic Mysore Holiday Package "2 Nights / 3 Days"
Day 1: Bangalore to Mysore | Mysore Arrival & Sightseeing

Pickup from Bangalore Airport / Railway Station / Bus Station and proceed to Mysore (Bangalore to Mysore 3 Hrs & 145 Kms). Enroute visit Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple and Gumbaz in Srirangapatna. On Arrival at Mysore, check-in to Mysore Hotel. After fresh up, proceed to below Mysore Sightseeing Places:

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple - Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is an ancient temple located in the small town of Srirangapatna, 22 KM away from Mysore. The most stunning feature of the temple is probably the way it reflects the golden rays of the rising sun! The marvellous carvings on the gopuram is truly an exotic piece of art and a sight to behold. These temples are very highly regarded by devotees and the temple in Srirangapatna worships the Adi Ranga. The temple is also protected by the Archaeological Survey of India for its historical and cultural significance.

Gumbaz - Located at a mere distance of 15 KM from Mysore, Gumbaz was built by Tipu Sultan in honour of his parents. The mausoleum was built in 1784 AD and it is 20 metres tall. It imitates the intricate architecture of Golconda Fort in Hyderabad. Gumbaz is surrounded by a well-maintained garden called Lalbagh Garden at the centre of which Gumbaz stands on an elevated platform. The platform’s veranda is beautified by minarets constructed of black granite. The extraordinary carvings on the ivory doors, the artwork on the domes and stone windows are a testament to the brilliant craftsmanship of the bygone era. Furthermore, the walls have been painted in tiger stripes to honour the bravery of Tipu Sultan.

KRS Dam - KSR another destination of interest for tourists located just 19 KM away from Mysore. The most unique thing about the dam is that it had been constructed of limestones and bricks instead of cement! KRS Dam had also made India proud by being one of the first dams in the world to operate sluice gates. This 3 KM long dam is spread over an area of 130 sq. KMS and holds the water of Cauvery, Hemavati and Lakshmana Thirtha rivers. The reservoir of the dam is also the largest reservoir in India. The water of KRS Dam powers the cities of Mysore, Mandya and Bangalore. You can visit the dam anytime between 6:30 AM and 9 PM.

Mysore Brindavan Gardens - The Brindavan Gardens of Mysore seems to go on forever with its rolling terrace gardens, countless trees, beautiful flower beds and small pools. The garden has enjoyed immense popularity with tourists since its construction in 1932. The garden is known for its beautiful patterns made by topiaries, pergolas and gazebos. The evening strolls, sunsets, and dancing fountains can give you an experience of a lifetime. There are swings and rides available for children. Statue of Mahishasura and Nandi - A colourfully painted statue Mahishasura holding a cobra and a sword in each hand is one of the major attractions of Chamundi Hills. Mahishasura has been touted as a generous ruler of Mysore instead of an asura. Another statue at Chamundi Hills that tourists love to see is that of Nandi. This massive statue of Nandi is the third largest statue of Nandi in India and has been carved out of a single rock.

Mysore Zoological Gardens - Mysore Zoological Gardens is a proud home to 168 different species of animals, birds and reptiles. The animals are kept safe in natural surroundings and tourists are educated in wildlife conservation and eco friendly practices. Do not miss out on the zoo exhibitions and gift shops.

Mysore Maharaja Palace - Mysore Palace is the best example of Indo-Saracenic style of architecture in Karnataka. Standing proud within the Old Fort boundaries, the best time to visit Mysore Palace is during Dussehra when the entire palace is decorated with festive lights.

St. Philomena's Cathedral - The second tallest church of Asia, St. Philomena's Church is dedicated to Saint Philomena. The architecture of the church reflects the Neo-Gothic style. Built in 1933, the church still preserves the remains of Saint Philomena. The lofty windows and stained glass windows are truly a sight to behold. The Sunday mass of the church is often attended by tourists.

Mysore Railway Museum - Mysore Railway Museum was started in 1979 by the Indian Railways.
